Avid golf fans living on Quadra Island have
had a vision that someday they could enjoy their
passion for golf at home on Quadra.
As
early as the 1980's there were attempts to find
the right place and time but it was not to be.
In late 1990's another attempt was made by some
long time residents to bring their vision to
fruition. It became clear that a formal
approach was required and Quadra Links
Limited (the company) was formed in the year
2000.
The original group consisted of local residents
making up nine shareholders who elected a board
of directors of five. Shortly after negotiation
for property located along the West road failed,
the owner of 157 acres along the Heriot Bay road
offered to sell his lot for the development of a
golf course. An agreement was struck
pending successful rezoning. The property
was rezoned for golf course use in September of
2005 upon completion of well impact tests and
covenant approval. The purchase was consummated
immediately. During the following year, the
focus was to allow the previous owner to
complete the removal of timber, secure
sufficient funds, and to begin clearing of
fairways.
As
of August 25, 2009, the layout of the golf
course has taken shape. The fairways are
contoured and the tees and greens are shaped.
